How to Choose the Right Air Purifier
Selecting an air purifier isn't just about grabbing the most expensive model; it's about matching the machine's capabilities to your specific needs and room size. The two most critical numbers to look at are the CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) and the stated coverage area.
As a rule of thumb, you want a purifier that can change the air in your room at least 4 times per hour (ACH - Air Changes per Hour) on its highest setting. If you place a unit rated for 150 sq. ft. into a 400 sq. ft. living room, it won't be able to cycle the air fast enough to meaningfully improve the overall air quality.
Understanding Filter Types: HEPA vs. Carbon
Air purifiers typically use a combination of mechanical filters to clean the air. Understanding what each layer does helps you determine which machine is best for your specific problems:

What About UV Lights and Ionizers?

Ionizers release negative ions to clump particles together so they fall to the floor or are easily caught by the filter. However, ionizers can produce ozone as a byproduct, which is a lung irritant.
